History teaches us that Judaism is the mother of both Christianity and Islam. We all know that Christ was born and died a Jew. We equally know that Islam refers to Muslim, Christian and Jew as Children of the Book.

The horrors of anti- Semitism have not fully faded from the personal experience of those who fought against and witnessed the terrible Nazi atrocities of the Second World War.

Much of the historic Jew-hate in Western Europe is sadly grounded in the many Christian leaders who allowed and encouraged the Jews to be a race apart. By forbidding Christians to deal in the financial matters which nations needed, but wished to be distanced from, the ‘Shylock' was created. A sad reflection on the ‘holier than thou' thinking in those days.

In the 21^st Centaury there appears to be surfacing, yet again, a rise in anti-Semitism. This time not from the Christian Children of the Book, but from some extremist and intolerant followers of Islam.

We all need to be watchful and wary. All means all those who believe in God. The thin end of a wedge is just that. Nazi or al-Qa'eda. Simply different names for the same fanatical intolerance, which any loving God would abhor.
