Buses in Rastrick?
What buses? Today the 380 & 381 bus services to Huddersfield through Rastrick have been withdrawn.
The service replacements announced by Metro are quite inadequate for the needs of the vast majority of residents who were served by the services which have been withdrawn. There are a great many older people, 4-5 nursing homes, sheltered homes and a hospital whose residents and visitors feel seriously let down. Many families living along Rastrick Common are likewise very concerned.
I have received a torrent of representations from residents urging that something must be done. Residents have raised a petition which reads as follows.
We the residents and communities in Rastrick, call equally upon Calderdale MBC, Metro and First Bus to work together to reinstate, in whole or in part, the 380/381 services which are withdrawn 27th January, 2008. The area affected by this service withdrawal encompasses an estimated 4000 residents, many elderly without other means of transport, likewise the residents of 5-6 care or sheltered homes or hospitals, as well as many areas of family homes.
Copies of the petition can be found at the newsagent and dentist’s surgery at Top’o’Town and Ward Court. Further details from either myself (07785 220300) or David Stevenson, 402077
