Was it really a local election?
Was last weeks vote really about local issues or a judgment on the performance of local Councillors?
It seems there was only one factor on the electorate's radar. Add more Blue to get less Brown.
Waste collection, education, libraries, public services and facilities, even Country were minor considerations, if considered at all.
It was not only the ‘Brown' Party which suffered. Smaller Parties and Independents have all taken the hit too. What seems most unfair to many, from Livingston down to all the hard working Councillors is that they have to carry the can for the man who is getting off Scot-free.
Seen him this morning on TV. Still no change in the man. Forget all the more positive words like determined, committed - Gordon is simply stubborn. Mrs T didn't like going back but at least she understood the ‘U' word. When Gordon hears his critics say U-turn he instantly thinks... yep I'm still on track... you turn instead.Back to entriesComment on this entry

worth reminding ourselves that one of our main campaining issues was gordon going back on his promise for an eu referendum. i am quite sure the massive anti brown vote is also a public endorsement of our call to have a referendum and the pm's refusal to put the matter to the country.

dave you are right.... think i will make a list of all the things we have been calling for for ages... border police..to name just another. also worth remembering that wheelies and war on supermarket shopping bags are all gordon's crazy notions too!

Paul, Chorlton & the Wheelies pre dates G Brown by some years I think it was a Cosgrave Hall (of Dangermouse fame ) production.

Aint that the truth... hang on... surely not much to choose between kids tv and local politics.... some great costumes... some degree of thought goes into doing it to please the masses... nobody takes it too seriuosly... same stuff just a matter of age.
