Mugabe - is our democracy any better?

There is much condemnation about Mugabe at the present time and his anti democratic ways.

Those of our politicians on this bandwagon and who are not shouting out for a Treaty Referendum are hypocrites!

Is Mugabe any different to a PM who cancels a General Election for fear of losing it?

As bad as a government which promises a referendum and than says, no we didn't mean to say that, again for fear of losing it.

As bad a collective regime which bullies people (the Irish) into accepting what they clearly have said they don't want?

As bad as those political parties which are quite happy to see ‘regional' democracy in some areas of the country, especially that area treasured by the ruling clan (Scotland) but refuse to let a similar parliamentary democracy become established in the largest part of the country (England)?

Is our democracy any better?

It would indeed be a welcome gesture should a senior Church of England bishop cut up his dog collar until an English Parliament was established in our own country.

And now we hear that this platform (a means of free political expression) is to be dumped by the Brown Government.... Surprised? ‘Not I'
