Ward Cllrs Capey, Bell and myself had meeting today with Alan Coe and Mark Palethorpe to challenge the proposed closure of Fenton Work shops.
We have explored all possibilities and are waiting to officers to come back to us with answers to several questions, should closure be unavoidable we have asked for assurances that as may staff as possible are re-deployed, Stoke Workshops currently employ approx 50 staff, mainly with visual or physical impairments. The workshops are losing the City approx £400 K per annum due to recent downturns in sales due to the economic climate.
