Are we the 'wacky and funny' party? UPDATED

The Sun claimed Lembit was to star on Celebrity Big Brother this morning. Peter Black tells us that Lembit has assured the Welsh Assembly group that it is not true.

Outrage was the initial reaction from many I spoke to. The problem of course is that we all know Lembit and have woken up to news that has made us say 'Oh no, what this time?'

But the question still stands. Is this really the look for us? At a time of economic crisis do we need rumours and gossip like this?

If this is true, I'm afraid it is beyond the pale. Nick Clegg is trying to make the party a serious alternative to the Conservatives at a time when Labour are in freefall, and Lembit decides to go on BB. Excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if the good people of Montgomeryshire kick him out at the general election (not that I want them to, but I wouldn't be surprised).

You ask a good question (if the Sun story is correct).
Many previous Lib Dem presidents have gone unnoticed by the world but something like this can have a big impact on our brand and narrative . . . arguably more than most policy papers, speeches and press releases.
