Around the World in 80 Minutes....

We are holding a 'Around the World in 80 Minutes' event at the Memorial Gardens tomorrow and everyone is welcome to attend.

There will beplenty of activities to suit all tastes going on throughout the day. There will be a live jazz band, arts and crafts activities and belly dancers at the gardens keeping visitors entertained.

To keep children busy children will be face painters and Nutty Norman the children's entertainer.

Within the gardens will be varied stalls representing different countries, showing their national flag and some details about the country. There will be an opportunity for visitors to learn a few phrases in different languages and to see how other communities would use the gardens. There will also be an opportunity to sample tasty snacks from around the world.

This is a great chance to have a day out and find out more about the Advance Crosby project and the work we are doing at the Memorial Gardens.....I'll look forward to seeing you there!

We want your stories.....

In the near future the council will be releasing another Advance Crosby newsletter which will be delivered to all residents in the project area to give an update of what stage Advance Crosby is at.

I would really like to include some of your experiences in the newsletter. So if anyone has got a story to tell about what you think of the project, what you hope will happen etc.....please get in touch!

Regards,

Nigel

Guest entry - Jennie Davies, Corus Magnet Group

Hi,

I'm Jennie Davies from the Corus Magnet Group.

The Magnet group is a group run for graduates in Corus by graduates in Corus. We are involved in many activities, both within the company and outside it. Late in 2007 the group decided to get involved in a local community project and in March the Memorial Gardens in Scunthorpe were chosen.

On the Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 April, a group of us from Magnet, along with Nigel, got together and set to the gardens. Work began with a litter pick across the site, followed by weeding the centre of the memorial and beginning to edge the paths and borders. After a tiring weekend (with very changeable weather) we had managed to make a visible difference to the gardens, which was noticed by members of the public walking through, and had all enjoyed ourselves too.

We intend to continue working on the gardens and hope to encourage more people to come along and join in the next time we're there, especially now there is better weather and longer daylight hours. So if you are interested in getting involved please get in touch!

The best person to contact would be Nigel on 01724 297268.

Thanks for reading.....I hope I have encouraged you to come along and help out.

Jennie

Welcome to the Adavnce Crosby blog!!!

I'm excited to be launching the Advance Crosby blog! The blog will enable me to keep residents in North Lincolnshire up to date with the progress of the regeneration project.

Advance Crosby will transform parts of the Crosby area of Scunthorpe into a place where people want to live, work and socalise. I believe that keeping local residents informed of every stage of the development is really important. I want you to know what's going on, when and how it's happening. I hope my blog will allow this to happen - it will also enable you to comment on some of the issues too.

There is plenty so say about Advance Crosby and as the project develops so will this blog. I'm looking forward to sharing the story as it happens.

Regards,

Nigel
