Hello Again
Looks like I can now access the blog site once again. I have not been able to access it since early January for some reason.
I had a really bad day yesterday. Peter Osgood who I enjoyed watching as a youngster playing for the mighty blues down at Stamford Bridge had a massive heart attack and died. He was only 59. The LibDems pushed a Budget through the council which I am convinced will do very little to help those on fixed incomes particularly pensioners and the low paid. There was also very little strategy that I could denote other than an attempt to keep below the Government's capping limit and a huge dive into reserves which along with heavy Prudential Borrowing commitments I am afraid does not augur well for the future. In spite of what some might see as some late cynical manoevering we are in for a large increase and we will still be paying one of the highest Council Taxes in London.
Happy New Year to everyone
Just arrived back in New Malden from a peaceful few days in the Yorkshire Dales. Not that peaceful really – had ten for Dinner on New Year’s Day after a late night seeing in 2006.
Enjoyed the holiday – went to see Bryn Terfil’s Christmas Show at the Albert Hall, Cinderella at the Wimbledon Theatre and the greatest football team I have seen at Stamford Bridge on a couple of occasions. In case you are wondering – Chelsea are the mighty Blues!!!
Just in case you think me a heathen I also went to Communion on Christmas Day – a Sung Eucharist at St James Piccadilly – very moving and interesting sermon from a lady priest. Basically she was saying that Faith is a gift which children have in abundance that as we get older we seem to lose or doubt. I certainly can associate myself with that. She was earnestly imploring the Congregation not to let the faith shown by the child diminish in the adult. Lots of food for thought.
Just getting ready to face the pile of papers awaiting me when I start working again tomorrow. Its now all in order so hopefully those waiting for bills to be paid and those waiting earnestly for replies to letters should be hearing from me in a few days. Hope I can find some money to pay the tax man as well.
My First Contact
This is my first attempt and I am not sure whether it is getting through. There has been some confusion - probably on my account as I am known as a technophobe.
At this stage I would just like to wish everyone or anyone who may stumble over this message A Merry Christmas and a Peaceful and Propserous New Year and say that I look forward to further use of the system in the New Year.
