Crosby Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder

North Lincolnshire Council established this in 2004. This was a result of a successful bid to the Government Office of which I was involved in. The pathfinder is now working with the council on Advance Crosby as one of its major planning priorities. The pathfinder’s community planning consultants have initiated a participation programme with local residents. This will contribute considerably to shaping the planning proposals for the area.

Tomorrow evening is the AGM and I have put my name forward for the board as a community member and would welcome any support from residents living in the pathfinder area

Thanking you Mark A Kirk

THE AGM IS TO BE HELD AT THE BATHS HALL ON THURSDAY THE 20TH OF APRIL 2006 AT 6.00PM

WALK WITH MID CROSBY WEST

Yesterday i walked around Aashdown Thomplinson and Holland  avenue also  Long road and Jackson road with residents and officers, one of the biggest problems pointed out was the new bin collection system and the proplem of the refuse vehicle getting up the street due to double parked cars, also rubbish strewn from left side rubbish.

AGM MID CROSBY WEST RESIDENTS GROUP

DSCF0058.JPG

Last night I attended the mid crosby west agm, all officers were re elected. the plice gave their report on crime in the area, issues that came up  were speeding cars on jacksons road, non taxed motorbikes and illegal parking. The secretary reported on a number of succesfull schemes that the group had acheived the main one being the closure of the snickets. Issues raised to me was the refuse collection or the lack of it due to parked cars blocking Ashdowm avenue. Today at 930 I am meeting with the committee to do an estate walk.

WE DID IT "TORY U TURN ON FLOWER BEDS"

After exposing the Tory plans to grass over Scunthorpes flower beds working with the Scunthorpe Telegraph, the Torys have had to do a massive u turn after public outcry.this is now the second time that the Labour group have exposed their plans to grass over existing flower beds, two years ago it was Kingsway gardens on their hit list, but then to try blame and hide behind officers when it was the Torys who sanctioned the canceling of the potting plants and bulbs, leaving the gardening section with nothing but grass seed.

Today Showman Sheldon Dowse opened his funfair with the help of the Scunthorpe Lions for the disadvantaged children at Central  park with free rides for the kids. this has now been done for a number of years where Showmen give up their time to give some joy to the children, before officialy opening to the paying public.

CAFE IVY

After spending a morning of chasing responses to ward enquiries and taking up ward matters on behalf of my constituents, I along with my fellow councillors, went for lunch to the Cafe Ivy which is run by Mencap from the Brumby Resource Centre on East Common Lane (Telephone 01724-298256). I would highly recommend the food and service (which is open to the public) at very competitive prices.

This initiative which offers training for people with disabilities within the catering environment to enable them to find and keep work which is right for them.  Qualified trainers assess individuals needs and devise a training package which will support these needs.

It provides an opportunity for the public to see people with disabilities playing an active part in the success of a catering project.

Me and my fellow colleagues will certainly be visiting again and might see you there!

DUCK ON THE MENU DOWN BY THE RIVER

This weekend i spent my time down by the river Ancolme in Brigg and on seeing the wild birds it came to me about how devastating it would be if bird flu came to North Lincs, as we are one of the biggest poultry producers in Europe, also we have a number of wild bird sancturys  ie Humber mud flats / Barton clay pits / Watersedge wild life park

STATE OF GRASS VERGES

I am contacted on a regular basis about grass verges and the state of them,i do report them to highways and the answer back is they are aware but is low on there priorities.

Whilst i accept that road saftey comes first it hit home to me when a women said she had lived in her street for over 35 years and was ashamed of where she lived. This is not acceptable i have raised this problem with the police and council again i have also spoken to David Hey neighbourhood manager for pathfinder a government funded community led organisation. David is keen to raise this issue with the pathfinder board.I would welcome comments

Crosby Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder have been looking at how to engage young people.   Please pass on the information to your friends and colleagues.

Antisocial behaviour is a problem for most people in the county and we do seem to have our fair share in crosby

High up on the list of complaints I receive are related to antisocial behaviour. There are many things the council can do in partnership with others, especially the police. Currently there is path finders which is a communitey led project which i attend one of the projects is to cut down on antisocial behaviour, find the root causes and do something about it.

This is a very emotive issue and I would be happy to enter into a discussion about problems in the crosby area.

I would like to thank councillor Andrea Deas who came up with this idea
