Well done Brigg!
On Wednesday I blogged about Brigg Farmers' Market being up for an award and this morning I was told it had won the title of National Rural Farmers' Market of the Year 2009 - awarded by the National Farmers' Retail and Markets' Association (FARMA).
The judges felt that the market had many of the ingredients essential for an award-winning market; excellent food, friendly and knowledgeable producers, lively atmosphere, an awareness of environmental issues and a commitment to the local community.
I'm absolutely thrilled that Brigg Farmers' Market has been awarded the very prestigious title of Rural Farmers' Market of the Year. This is a massive achievement and huge recognition for the effort and enthusiasm put in by the traders, market visitors and organisers. We knew the market was a strong contender and now we've had it confirmed, it's officially the UK's best rural farmers' market!
