School Council quizzes Mayor
The members of the School Council at The Mount Primary School are concerned that the drains seemed unable to cope with the downpours over the last week. Roads and pavements were flooded in a number of places near their school and we heard tales of people being unable to get across London. They also talked with me about how to make their walks to school safer, and the need for more litter bins. I've asked them to discuss their worries and suggestions and email them to me.
The school had asked me in to meet everyone first at assembly. I was greeted by some very well-spoken and polite children who invited me to have breakfast with them, and later gave me a tour of the building. The school as a whole wanted to ask me about my chains, and what the Mayor does.
Later I explained to the School Council that there were many similarities between the way they were elected and their responsibilities, and those of the councillors on Kingston Council. I hope to have a chance to show some of them round the Guildhall.
