Gypsy & Travellers 2

By law, councils have a duty to assess accommodation needs of gypsies and travellers. I welcome comments from people.

That is why we are consulting on our plans.  We would be criticised if we didn't seek the people's views.  We want to know what people think of the proposed sites - good or bad.  We want them to suggest alternative sites, and we want to hear from those who may have sites that would be suitable.  We will consider all comments before making a final decision.

More damage done at Normanby Road Raceway.
Mick it's about time they were moved on or it will get out of hand as people get fed up with it.

think we have all been patient enough now mick things need to be done before people take things into there own hands to get these low lifes off the site as we do not want to lose our speedway track and im sure quite a lot of people will be very unhappy if this happens then god knows what they will be capable off ...... time to pull your finger out now and actually get something done ....... but then again you dont really care cos its not u personally that is having to pay put everytime they break into the speedway track ,, ask yourself would i like these living right next to my home ???????? we all know the answer would be a big fat no ........... well neither do we so get em moved on now

I think that most people accept that these communities have to be housed somewhere, the frustration comes when they abuse the facility that has been granted.
Communication and planning are the keys here, plan the facility well, ensure a warden is in place to ensure rules/rents etc are maintained and act fast if people dont tow the line.
Most of the issues we now face are down to poor communication and planning in the past.
These people have rights,so do law abiding, tax paying citizens, the balance has swung too far in thier favour, hence the current tensions.
Restore our faith, prove you can be decisive and act in the best interests of the majority not the minority..go on you know you can do it...if you really want to that is!!

Maybe you could let us all know your thoughts on the damage still being done to the speedway track while you go about your "consultation"?and does it really matter what we all think ?as far as i can see your just buying yourself some time before you make the decision you want ,not what the folk you represent want
And yes i am waiting for your response to my question, want me to repeat it??
maybe you could let us have your thoughts on the damage still being done to the speedway track while you go about your consultaion? and how long will the consultation take?
i look forward to your reply

you really need to get this sorted out a.s.a.p ... the very hard working people / tax payer's .. at scunthorpe speedway ( owner's , supporter's, rider's ,etc) have had enough
im sure you would agree the excellent work mr godfrey and co have done so far ... well if you dont get these 'traveller's' moved on very soon ... your tax paying community (and nationwide law abiding speedway supporter's / riders ) are going to suffer when mr godfrey pull's the plug on speedway in scunthorpe .... get it sorted now .... please

Come on do something Rob I'm sure is paying 3 lots...YES I DID SAY 3 lots of council tax to you guys ! 1 lot for his home and no doubt 2 extortionate lots for the 2 businesses he runs !! If it was YOUR business that was getting targeted week in week out by the 'travellers' Then I'm sure something would have been done about it by now.
Come back Screaming Lord Such (God rest his soul) at least had the right idea of what the ordinary folk wanted!

I urge you to rethink making a permanent site on Normanby Road, it didn't work last time so why should it work in the future, do you you really think a warden would have made any difference before, speedway is important to a lot of people around here and also brings in visitors from around the country and even sometimes from abroad, I don't think it is right to put our sport in Scunthorpe at risk, to provide a site for travellers. I pay a lot for my council tax, do they??
