Rattling cages!
It seems as though my last blog hit a raw nerve with the local Tories!
There's very little new news to report on the gypsy and traveller consultation as we go through all of the 850 responses. I will let people know when there's information to report. The Tories, however, are desperate to make up for their recent failings and have publically gone on the attack.
Firstly Hull councillor Andrew Percy criticised me in the local paper, again stating David Cameron's meeting in Brigg was not about gypsies. You'd think he would have given up on this one by now, but seeing as though he's obviously had his wrists slapped by Tory HQ he's looking for someone else to blame. Unfortunately Mr Percy keeps on digging a hole - his own Tory leaflet advertising Mr Cameron's visit stated the Tory leader would, and I quote, "answer questions from local residents" on local issues. The front page article of the very same Tory document was about gypsy and traveller sites, so I can only assume the Tories class this as a local issue. Sure enough, a question on this local issue was asked at the meeting and Mr Cameron answered it. I'm not quite sure which element of that Mr Percy fails to grasp!
Today I read in the local paper the Tories have put out a letter to Barton residents stating they have been represented during the recent consultation. This letter is a direct response to my last blog - so I would like to thank those Tory members for directing local people to it. It seems a bit strange they want to advertise the fact they failed to put in individual responses on behalf of their people but thank you nonetheless!
