Let’s make use of derelict house
Local Councillors are calling for 4 Avon Buildings on the Lower Bristol Road in Twerton to be released from the Highways Road widening account, where it has been held for the past decade.
4 Avon Buildings is in a derelict state and would make a good family home but it has been kept in the Highways account just in case it is needed for any potential Road widening of the Lower Bristol Road.
Westmoreland Councillor Sharon Ball (Lib Dem) said:
"We are making positive progress in getting this part of the Lower Bristol Road brought back into a reasonable condition but 4 Avon buildings is a blight on the progress that we are making.
“We have written to the Council and asked that this building is returned to the private sector and developed for social housing as this will not only return a much needed house to the market but also clean up a current eye sore.
“We all know how great the need is for social housing, so surely even some of this site can be developed for that need, rather than currently serving no purpose.”
“We have been promised this road widening for some time, but if it isn’t going to happen then the Council needs to make best use of the land."
