Reception at 10 Downing Street 27th November 2006
I was nicely surprised to be asked to this reception at 10 Downing Street. There were a number of councillors from over the country and a number of Ministers attended so we were able to question them on various issues. PM Blair made a short speech regarding local government.
I attended a reception in 1997 with Julie Reay, this was to celebrate the winning of the General Election.
I visited 10 Downing Street with my Politics Students on two occasions,
This was taken when leaving the reception on 27th November. I am standing next to Jagdish Sharma, whom I met when a candidate for the London Assembly some time ago now.
The Heart of Brazil Expedition February - July 2007
The object of the expedition is to assess the current situation of the indigenous people living in areas recognised by the Brazilian government, in terms of their health, education, culture and security. Also to evaluate and compare the state of conservation of forests inside the protected areas in order to assess environmental and sustainability of those areas. The expedition will be working closely with Brazilian official and non-governmental organisations both at local and national level.

Relate, Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow AGM Tuesday 21st November 2006Myself with the Deputy Mayor of Richmond, and Sally Simon, Chair of Relate
Sally Simon has been Chair of Relate for 24 years, but is to retire this year.
A very interesting AGM with a most interesting speaker, Dana Mills Powell, who spoke on Family and Systemic Therapy. The use of language featured strongly in her talk which invited further investigation.
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas 18th November 2006 Kingston Vale Village Hall
A great evening. We shared our table with Mr & Mrs Cowe, whose son Nick played Senator Wingwoah, who was extremely funny, and Janet & John. John was writing a report of the show.
Christmas Bazaar Saturday 18th November 2006 Kingston Care HomeThis was my first Christmas activity, and it was most enjoyable.
I was met by Santa and Veronica Scates, the Home Manager.
One of the stalls and examples of the lovely decorations.
On the way to Santa's Grotto
Such lovely decorations!
It was great meeting so many of the residents. One resident is 102.
Kingston Care Home had a lovely atmosphere and it is very well managed. I am sure this is a lot to do with Veronica. Happy Christmas
Chessington Community College Celebration of Achievement Thusday 16th November 2006Myself, having words? with David Kemp, Principal of CCC, and Ms Heidi Langrish, Chair of the Board of Governors.
It was most interesting to hear about all the achievements and different activities pupils from Chessington Community College. Pupils travelled to Latvia and the Czech Republic, Spain and Devon. They also participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and sporting and fitness activities. Pupils also improved their GCSE results this year. Well done, keep up the good work.
The Government has awarded £23m to rebuild the school, which will mean a lot of inconvenience for the staff and pupils but I am sure, will be worth it in the end.
Thanks to Mr Kemp, who was a great host on a very busy evening.
Gwanak-gu Delegation visit to Kingston upon Thames 14th November 2006

On the Guildhall steps with Ian, David and Pippa who runs my Deputy Mayor duty.

2nd RBK Primary Schools' Reading and Performing Arts Festival Saturday 11th November 2006 Mount Primary School
There is no doubt that children are capable of enthralling their audiences when performing. When the children performed in such an excellent manner at the Mount School they captivated us all.
We were the captivated.
David, myself, Mrs Yoganathan and Cllr Yoganathan and one of the excellent performers.
Two of the winners.
It was a lovely evening, we both enjoyed ourselves and were amazed at the talent of these young pupils.
The Lord Mayor's Show Saturday 11th November 2006
David and I were very pleased to find that we, not the Mayor and Consort were to attend this event. We considered ourselves to be very lucky.
The Lord Mayor arrives in his coach
This was an amazing climb for a number of young people
One of the many floats, as a dog lover, I had to include this one.
Just to finish off the day, there is nothing like a cuddle with an old-timer, after a nice meal.
Kingston Choral Society Saturday 4th November 2006
It was a great pleasure for David and I to attend this concert. It was so atmospheric, taking place in the Church. We both enjoyed the performance.
I was surprised to be met by Joan Child, as I know her from the Searchlight Youth Club.
A great evening. Good singing from the Choral Society, including the Mayor, Cllr Mary Reid.

3rd Anniversary of the Shiraz Mirza Community Hall Saturday 28th October 2006
What a pleasant surprise to find Geffrey Brathwaite was to be the guest of honour at the 3rd anniversary of the Shiraz Mirza Hall. He was Police Commander of the Borough a short time ago.
David, myself, Geffrey, Derek in the front. Shiraz, and the Representative from the Pakistani High Commission behind. It is amazing to find the hall has only been operating for 3 years. We have attended a number of enjoyable functions in the hall.
It was good to meet up with Ghazala again - I miss her from the council
Myself with Lally and friends of Shiraz. We were given a most interesting talk by one of the cyclists, the only woman, on the E to E for E, the fund raising cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats in aid the earthquake in Pakistan. She is standing behind.
