Country Roads
During the last week country roads have been much in discussion.
At Hacklinge on the Deal Sandwich road, the local residents are very worried over the number of accidents occurring.
A meeting of the Hacklinge Action Group demonstrated the cross party support for action with agreement between myself, Cllr Jim Cronk and Cllr Eileen Rowbotham.
At the Snowdon Regeneration Forum the possibility of HGVs using the roads around Woolage and Womenswold instead of the adopted plan route through Aylesham was also discussed. The proposals need to ensure that residents in these two villages are not adversly affected in order for the Project to be successful. Residents in nearby Nonington are also concerned over the traffic impact.
At Sutton Parish Council, the councillors are also worried about the speed of traffic along Forge Lane which is part of a "rat run" between Deal and Whitfield. I had a discussion with an officer at Dover District Council who informed me that this is a difficult matter due to the lack of finances for Highways.
The increase in traffic using our roads is of concern to many of our villages, and i will keep campaigning to look at options to alleviate these concerns. I would appreciate other people's views on this Topic.
