road safety

Last week while Clllr Keith Ferrin and officers were looking at traffic problems in Eastry I mentioned other traffic problems in the ward.

One issue is the amount of rat running as people attempt to avoid the Dover Deal road (A258) hence placing more traffic pressure on a number of parishes. These roads are not meant to cope with this increasing volume of traffic and a number of people have spoken about the excessive speed of some of these motorists.

The other issue I asked about was the continuing trafic problem on St Richard's Road which again passes through a number of parishes. There is concern about pedestrian  crossing of this road coupled with the two schools located along its route.

There is apparently much work going on investigating both of these issues and reports on ways to tackle them are about to be brought forward from Kent Highways.
