Today was the first collection for my neighbours of the expanded kerbside recycling scheme. This has been a long while coming but i feel the wait was worthwhile. Many residents have expressed satisfaction with this new arrangement as we now collect both cardboard and plastic bottles.
I know the officers at the council too have been working hard and have been well led by my colleague Nick Kenton.
I will be interested to see how this impacts on our overalll recycling figures.

I told you the bads were too flimsy.
Driving through the village after the collection they were blowing everywhere.In fact I had to swerve to miss one coming up Mongeham Road towards my car. I will agree that the wind was extra stong.

the bags are similar to those used for the green waste and have been in use for a number of years.I think people need to use a bit of common sense to ensure that the bags don't get blown all over the place.
I noticed that the collection people were placing them in the black boxes after emptying to minimise such an occurrence.
