WHAT HAPPENS TO RIDDINGS POOL IF THE SPORTS ACADEMY GOES AHEAD ?
As the debate on the location of a new Sports Academy continues, with Brumby Hall looking like the preferred option above Quibell Park. The question - If the academy goes ahead what happens to Riddings Pool ? was asked of me recently.
The answer is that should the academy go ahead, there are no plans to retain Riddings Pool under the present proposals, instead most leisure facilities will be consolidated onto the one site.
CLOSURE OF SOUTH LEYS & THOMAS SUMPTER SCHOOLS
It is regrettable that the Cabinet Member for Education has today issued a Public Notice to close both South Leys and Thomas Sumpter Schools ready for implementation on 31st August 2007.
This now triggers off another round of 'consultation' for the next six weeks, which allows those interested to make their comments heard.
In effect this means that if no objections are received North Lincolnshire Council can implement their desired proposals, alternatively if objections are received the case is referred to the Schools Organisation Committee for decision. If the Schools Organisation Committee fail to reach a unanimous decision then a School Adjudicator will be appointed.
Motorists using the Moorwell Road - Scotter Road cross roads have expressed their concerns regarding the number of non operational street lights at the junction throwing the area into darkness.
These concerns are justified and fingers crossed the lighting columns should be up and working again within the week subject to there being no major electricity supply faults.
PLANNERS SAY 'NO' TO CHANCEL ROAD DEVELOPMENT
For a month or so, many local residents in Bottesford in particular those living in Oakwood Rise, Birchwood Road and Chancel Road have been expressing their concerns regarding the proposed development on the present Garage Site on Chancel Road.
If successful the plans would have seen an additional eleven dwellings with associated garages on the site with access from the present cul de sac of Oakwood Rise.
However North Lincolnshire haved rejected the plans on a number of planning grounds.
