SCHOOLS UPHEAVAL FOR LEYS FARM & ENDERBY ROAD ?

As the local Councillor for Bottesford, I was disappointed to learn that the future of two local schools - Leys Farm Junior and Enderby Road along with the Riddings Junior and Infant Schools in the neighbouring Brumby ward were being debated under the guise of the 'Surplus Places Working Group' looking at capacity in the Southern Scunthorpe area.

This so soon after the announcement of the closure of South Leys, portrayed as an amalgamation with Thomas Sumpter.

If there are to be any changes to schooling in the area then I would expect North Lincolnshire Council to embark on consultation at the earliest opportunity and if not then these schools should not be singled out, as described in official council papers for specific 'monitoring'.

BOOZE BAN IN ALL PUBLIC PLACES !

A call for a total booze ban in all open public places within Bottesford is to be given consideration at the next Town Council meeting (Monday 5th March 2007).

The proposed extension follows a partially successful ban introduced in the town's parks a couple of years ago.

So as the Council ways up the pros and cons, any future success is reliant not just on the Councils but other public bodies as well as the residents of Bottesford themselves.
