WHAT ISSUES DOES A TYPICAL WARD COUNCILLOR DEAL WITH?

As a ward Councillor I am often asked by residents what are the issues affecting Bottesford (the area I represent) and I answer as best I can usually citing instances over the past week or two.

Likewise, I have filled out surveys over the years of a similar nature using at best guesstimates with no real evidence.

During 2006 & 2007 I kept a log from a ward perspective grouping together issues as best I could, the results being (with there percentages in brackets) as follows - Highways (17%), Nuisance & Anti Social Behaviour (14.5%), Public Transport (11.5%), Housing, Benefits & Council Tax (11.5%), Planning (9.5%), Refuse Collection & Recycling (9.5%), Neighbourhood & Environment (9.5%), Parks & Open Spaces (5.5%), Drainage & Flooding (4%), Licensing (2%), Leisure (2%) and other issues making up the remaining 3.5%.

I don't for one minute expect that there is a typical ward nor a typical Councillor and it only needs a single topical issue to alter the figures from the norm.

However it would be interesting if other elected representatives feel these more or less mirror their workload patterns.
