Traffic Crunch
Traffic crunch overtook credit crunch today. Seeinga gap in the diary I thought it a good time to make a rare visit over to Middlesbrough to do some Christmas shopping at the Traidcraft Shop (open Monday to Saturday, 10 - 5 until December 20th). However there had been a traffic crunch at the new Aldi junction bringing everything to a standstill. It meant time was limited in the splendid shop, run by Jenny Medhurst and her band of wonderful volunteers. The profits from everything sold goes back to the people who have produced it, so I do try to buy as much a possible from the shop each year. A lot of fuss is being made about the effects of the global economic situation here, but the producers of these goods are the one's that are really affected. An enormous amount of time was spent sitting in a huge jam waiting for the accident to clear, and I am not a patient person. Considering how much is being said about nobody doing any shopping - there must have been a lot of people who just like sitting in traffic jams !!
I was glad to be able to get out of the car and do what I do enjoy - meeting a number of people in the ward on different issues.
