Donate - NOW !

I met someone today who was thought to be the longest living kidney transplant person alive in the area - he had his transplant 37 years ago and is certainly looking fit and well, and proud to show us his medal and T shirt from the Transplant Olympics.  There is more and some photos on the Mayor's Blog, but whatever you do, if you are not already registered as a donor, please have a look at the website and do so now, yes - NOW !

This morning I went with John to meet some of the social workers in Stockton.  He was very concerned about the bad press they have been getting and how it must be affecting their morale.  He does not have power as a Mayor, but can do something like this to speak on behalf of the Borough, and thank people for what they do.  One thing that came over very strongly was that social workers do not work in isolation, depending on which team they were with they worked with combinations of health, police, probation, education and many more.  Also the dedication they had to a very difficult as well as unpopular job.  It is nice to be able to say "thank you", maybe we all ought to do it more often.

having read so far, have you registered for being a donor ? if not go back to paragraph one and do it, NOW !
