What Materials can I put in my recycling Box?
Paper (including Yellow Pages)
Most types of paper including newspaper, magazines, catalogues, directories, Yellow Pages, junk mail, white paper and white envelopes, paper thin greetings cards, white based wrapping paper and small amounts of shredded paper (no more than 2 carrier bags at a time) NO cardboard or brown paper.
Glass Bottles & Jars
Please rinse (labels can be left on). NO broken glass or other types of glass; e.g. Pyrex, tumblers, window panes etc.
Food & Drinks Cans & Aerosols
All food and drinks cans (please rinse) and aerosols. Please note that labels can be left on. Please remove the lids from aerosols.
Plastic Bottles
All types of plastic bottles. NO other types of plastic (e.g.. Clingfilm or yoghurt pots). Tops off, Wash and Squash!
Foil
Clean aluminium foil e.g. milk bottle tops, take away trays etc. (please squash together)NO silver plastic e.g. crisp packets (Try the scrunch test – if it springs back, it’s not foil)
Textiles
Only whole items of clothing and shoes will be collected. They must be clean and dry and put out in bags to prevent them from getting wet. NO towels, bed covers, rags, pillows, duvets or other stuffed items.
All dry cell and rechargeable batteries. Please put them in out in a small bag once you have collected enough.
Car Batteries
Placed next to the box (take care in handling to avoid acid spills).
Engine Oil & Filters
In sealed containers - preferably an oil container (drain oil filters and wrap in plastic bags to avoid leaks).
Mobile Phones
including batteries and chargers
Toner & Ink Cartridges
please leave in original packaging where possible (or use the packaging from the new cartridge)
Spectacles
