Pennyquick Hill to have safety work

Many residents have told us about their concerns about this road over the years and after several tragic accidents on Pennyquick Hill , Council Highways officers have agreed to a road safety review of the road before the end of November.

We are pleased that at last a sum of £150,000 has been put into improving the known black spot at the junction of Whiteway Road and Poolmead road on the edge of Twerton in Bath.

It is about time the review took place and we are disappointed to say the least that it has taken so long. We await in anticipation to outcomes of the review and would hope that some serious action would be taken on any works that need to be done that are highlighted in the review.

Police Crack down on street drinkers

The local media have run a story on the Police cracking down on street drinkers and how some young people have been getting others to buy alcohol for them form shops in the City Centre. It is not only the City Centre that has the problem and local police officers in the communities are also cracking down on under age drinking. On Tuesday night several youths were made to pour the alcohol that they had  down the drain by a uniformed officer at How Hill in Twerton.

We have had reports from local shop owners who are concerned that Adults may be buying Alcohol for youths who are not old enough to drink. It is clear by the amount of youths that we see with Alcohol in the street that they are getting it from some where and some one is buying it for them.

The clear fact is that it is against the Law for any one to buy Alcohol for anyone that you may know to be under 18 and we are supporting the Police in their efforts to resolve this problem. It is important to remember that if you buy alcohol for any one under the age of 18 you can and will be prosecuted.

Redland Park Bail House

We are annoyed to say the very least to find out that there is a bail House in Redland Park after being told several months ago that it was not there. We are now calling for this house to be closed with immediate effect and have written to the owners in this light.

We have tracked down the company that run this House and would suggest that any residents that have a concern about this House write to them at the address given below.

Bath Foyer

At a recent meeting with Shape Housing we raised the issue of  speeding cars and mopeds that often race along Dominion Road going into the Bath Foyer and also the subject of football again being played in the car park that was disturbing neighbouring houses.

Shape has agreed to speak to their residents and ask that these practices are stopped.

Marjorie Whimpster ex-residential care home

The Aster Group acquired the Marjorie Whimpster ex-residential care home in Twerton from the Council in December last year.  It is proposed that the site will be re-developed to provide approximately 30 new affordable homes for rent and shared ownership including 10 homes for adults with learning difficulties.

Plans are in the early stages and a full planning application has not yet been submitted.

In order to keep local residents informed Aster will be holding an open afternoon at the Millennium Hall on October 22nd to give local residents the opportunity to view sketch plans and meet the people involved with the development.

If you are able please go along if you are able and let your councillors Know what you think.

What a Mess

We have complained to Somer housing about the amount of mess that was made on Dominion Road during recent grass cutting and asked that the excess grass was removed from the communal flats grass area.

This seems to have happened but we are disappointed to see that another resident has again dumped the contents of his house onto his from grass and we have asked Somer to ensure that it is removed.
