Abandoned Vehicles
If you suspect that a vehicle is abandoned, contact Bath & North East Council Connect on 01225 394041. Do not attempt to touch the vehicle. The Council will investigate and remove the vehicle for destruction as necessary.
Under the Clean Neighbourhood & Environment Act it is an offence to abandon a vehicle. This can lead to an automatic fine of £200 being issued to the current owner.
If an abandoned vehicle has been vandalised, it is very vulnerable to more damage and fire-setting. Please contact the Police Vandalised Vehicle Hotline on 0800 0835 115, and it will be dealt with as a high priority. This is part of the Car Clear Partnership, coordinated by the Avon & Somerset Arson Task Force.
Removal at Owner's Request
Bath & North East Somerset Council will also collect and destroy old vehicles at the request of the owner, for a fee of £80. The owner must have the vehicle log book and proof of identification.
Vehicles without a valid tax disc
A vehicle with no tax disc is not necessarily abandoned. The Council has no power to remove untaxed vehicles that are not abandoned. Tax Disc Offences should be reported to the DVLA, Tel: 0800 0325 202.
For further information, or to report an abandoned vehicle, please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or via email at CouncilConnect@bathnes.gov.uk
