INFORMATION

Police Inspector Staite has announced that for the next two weeks there will be a clamp down on Speeding, Mobile phone use whilst driving, and use of seat belts. So stay within the law.

He is also liaising with King Edwards School regarding parking on zig zags by the crossing.

LICHFIELD CITY COUNCIL

The Annual Town Meeting will be held at the Guildhall on Wednesday 21 May at 7.30pm. The meeting is empowered to discuss parish affairs and pass resolutions thereon. Any Local Government Elector for the parish of Lichfield is entitled to speak and vote at the meeting. Come along and have your say. Other members of the public may attend to hear the proceedings.

ELECTIONS

Well done, congratulations to all new Conservative Councillors. Changes afoot for London with Boris as their new Mayor. Go to it Boris show them how able you are. Hope you all had a good weekend break. Another at the end of the month, until then lots of work to do problems to solve, actions to take.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Neil Parish MEP, Chairman of the Parliaments Agricultural Committe warned that farmers must finally be allowed to respond to the market. Three years ago wheat was worth 90 Euros, today it is worth close to 270 Euros.rapid price rises is causing concern around the world with Argentina slapping huge export taxes on its agricultural production and politicians in Europe, including both the French and German Agricultural Ministers, have called for a return to direct subsidies for food production. Mr Parrish said our farmers have been champing at the bit to produce food for the past twenty years, but they have been stifled by the bureaucracy of the Common Agricultural policy. We need to free our farmers from government interference, and allow them to do what they do best, producing food.
